Locality: United States, Minnesota, Koochiching, Located in Pine Island State Forest bounded by Rainy River and Hwy. 11 to the north and east. County Road 86 to the west, and the west branch of the Black River to the south 200m. Birchdale is the nearest town 9.5km to the northwest. Site was accessed via helicopter drop. T159N R26W SENE Sec. 30

Habitat: Occurs in a transitional community between a poor black spruce swamp to the north and shrub swamp to the south. Found on a push-out berm at the southern terminus of a narrow drainage ditch. Growing under nearby full sunlight. Partially shaded by Salix petiolaris and S. pyrifolia.
Associated Species: Agrostis scabra, Carex canescens
