Locality: United States, Minnesota, Saint Louis, Accessed via the Arrowhead State Trail on ATV west from Forest Road 203 and east from County Road 180 and US-53. Forest Road 203 is 2.3km to the east. Silver Lake is 800m to the south-southwest and Bug Lake is 600m to the north. Cusson is the nearest town 16km to the southwest. T66N R19W NWNW Sec. 12

Habitat: Occurring in a localized northern dry-mesic mixed woodland native plant community. Northwest aspect with 5-6% slope on thin (3cm) organic matter over bedrock. Specimen strongly rooted in organic matter matrix formed from Pleurozium schreberi moss and gravel substrate.
Associated Species: Vaccinium myrtilloides, Viola spp, Corydalis sempervirens, Melampyrum lineare, Trientalis borealis, Poa spp, Oryzopsis asperifolia, Schizachne purpurascens
Description: 80cm tall fruiting individual growing immediately under a 40% canopy cover of Populus tremuloides.
