Habitat: Occurs in a northern rich tamarack swamp native plant community. Shaded by Fraxinus nigra and Thuja occidentalis. Collected specimen seen growing in clumps elevated above surface water on a cedar tree base. Overall community canopy cover 60-70%. Surface water pH 6.9.
Associated Species: Rhododendron groenlandicum, Cornus canadensis, Fragaria virginiana, Maianthemum trifolium, Coptis trifolia
