Habitat: Jack pine and red pine dominated woodland on south facing slope (~20 degrees) on sandy loam soil. Associated species include Rosa acicularis, Carex pensylvanica, Toxicodendron radicans, Corylus americana, Agastache foenidulum, Arabis lyrata, Amelanchier spp., local patch of Amorpha canescens, Quercus rubra seedlings, Goodyera tesselata, Pteridium aquilinum under a canopy of Pinus bansiana, Populus grandidentata, and Betula papyrifera.
