Habitat: Co-dominant with Carex lasiocarpa on large portions of boggy sedge mat amidst rolling wooded terrain. Mostly in full sun. In carpet of Sphagnum moss. Associates include Carx utriculata, C. chordorrhiza, Eriophorum gracile, Dulichium arundinaceum, Thelypteris palustris, Drosera rotundifolia. Also occasional in smaller boggy depression 1/4 mile to the west. Growing here under canopy of Larix laricina with above associates as well as Eriophorum chamissonis, Lycimachia thyrsiflora, onoclea sensibilis, Salix pedicellaris, Betula papyrifera.
