Habitat: Rugged terrain...gradually-sloping area in slight ravine on mid to upper portion of 180-foot, north-facing slope. Canopy dominated by large Acer saccharum & Betula allegheniensis, with occasional Picea glauca, Betula cordifolia, and Thuja occidentalis. Moist, rocky, loamy soil. Associates include Athyrium angustum, Thelypteris phegopteris, Acer spicatum, Rubus pubescens, Galium trifolium, Clintonia borealis, Trientalis borealis, Carex pedunculata, C. arctata.
