Habitat: Gently-rolling sandy terrain ... peatland complex ... in ecotonal zones of poor fen / scrub conifer swamp between black spruce swamp and bog birch shrub fen ... in full sun to partial shade of Picea mariana and Larix laricina ... in carpets of Sphagnum spp. mosses that cover the saturated peat substrate. Associated species include Carex chordorrhiza, C. paupercula, C. limosa, Eriophorum angustifolium, Ledum groenlandicum, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Betula glandulifera.
