Description: Pileus red brown to yellow orange brown, fading to pale buff in age; convex with in-rolled margin in young, expanding to plane with slight depression around a broad central umbo; surface dry; pellis breaking into scales in center, merely separating into narrow strands around margin creating a sulcate appearance; 20-30mm broad; Flesh white, 1-2 mm, not changing; consistency flexible, taste mild, odor pleasant, fungoid; Lamellae adnexed; close with a regular pattern; Lamellulae present, tapering; color cream; thin; marin serrate; consistency flexible; Stipe cylindric, solid, +/- tapering toward base; 15-20 mm; central; concolor with pileus; surface scurfy; flesh white; consistency tough, fibrous; veil lacking;
Notes: The branch on which these mushrooms were fruiting was collected after a storm during the previous autumn, and it was stored under cover. First fruiting occured the following spring on an exposed end of the branch after heavy rain. The branch was then retrieved from cover and moved to open space, and the previously exposed end end was immersed in rain water in a shallow container.
