Habitat: In thin mineral soil. Cut over forest land; now mostly grassy but with scattered shrubs and tree saplings.
Associated Species: associated with Crataegus macrosperma, Prunus virginiana, Pteridium aquilinum var. latiusculum, Populus tremuloides.
Description: Primocanes abundant, but no floricanes seen.
