Habitat: on extensive, 40- to 100-foot, north-facing, ferrodiorite cliffs forming the upper portion of the steep, 300-foot, north slope of Oberg Mountain. Plants in shaded settings, mostly on the lower to mid portions of the cliff. Forming loose clumps. Shaded by Betula cordifolia, Picea glauca, Alnus viridis, Thuja occidentalis, and Sorbus decora on and above the cliff.
Associated Species: Shaded by Betula cordifolia, Picea glauca, Alnus viridis, Thuja occidentalis, and Sorbus decora on and above the cliff. Associated species include Dryopteris fragrans, Cystopteris fragilis, Saxifraga aizoon, Thelypteris phegopteris, Campanula rotundifolia, Aquilegia canadensis, Solidago hispida, Sorbus decora, Woodsia glabella.
