Habitat: on 10- to 25-foot, north-northwest-facing, ferrodiorite cliffs on the inland side of Bear Island, and on 30- to 60-foot southeast-facing ferrodiorite cliffs on the lakeward side of Gull Island. Forming dense tufts in crevices in sunny to shaded settings. In settings exposed to storm waves and ice. (Compare to MDL3052 which occurs in settings protected from storm waves and ice.)
Associated Species: Associated species include Campanula rotundifolia, Achillea millefolium.
