Habitat: in the savanna with oak
Substrate: It was collected in the savanna with oak. Helianthemum is also a possible host.
Associated Species: Helianthemum is also a possible host.
Description: Spores elliptic, yellowish, x800, KOH 6.8-7.4(-7.7)x2.5um (N=6) Cheilocystidia brown, clustered, with amorphous material at base, clavate to subclavate (one hooked). x540 or x800 41.9-49.2(-64.0)x7.8-10.9 um (N=8). Habitat (in savanna with oak)+spores+cheilocystidia fit Suillus subaureus but cheilosystidia are not mentioned in Smith&Theirs (1971) just said to be similar to pleurocystidia which are narrower than this collection.
Notes: This collection could have been made in summer 2003.
