Locality: United States, Minnesota, Cook, Superior National Forest Approximately 4.5km west of Lutsen and 2.5km east-southeast of Bradley Lake, on the northwestern slope of Moose Mountain.

Habitat: Observed growing on a large Picea snag, on the top of a small rock outcrop, in an old-growth fire-dependent community with an interrupted canopy of Thuja occidentalis.
