Habitat: seepage-fed tamarack swamp "hanging" along the base of a steep, 140ft, northeast-facing slope. Canopy a rather dense stand of Larix laricina. In moist, mossy needle duff. Associates include Mitella nuda, Smilacina trifolia, S. stellata, Caltha palustris, Maianthemum canadense, Saxifraga pennsylvanica, Arisaema triphyllum, Equisetum hyemale, Corallorhiza trifida, Pyrola asarifolia, Rubus pubescens, Rhamnus alnifolia, Ribes triste, R. hirtellum, Toxicodendron rydbergii, Betula glandulifera.
