Habitat: Un common & local in a five acre band of mature ash swamp along small stream through large tamarack swamp complex. Interrupted canopy dominated by mature Fraxinus pennsylvanica with frequent F. nigra. Moist to wet organic siol. Associated species include Carex radiata, C bromoides, C. gracillima, C. leptalea, Glyceria striata, Geum rivlae, Toxicondendron rydbergii, Ribes trista, Aluns incana, Gallium asprellrum, caltha palustris, Cardamine bulbosa. Rubus pubescens, Thailictrum dasycarpum. Campanula aparinoides.
