Habitat: dry-mesic prairie on slopes in shallowly-undulating topography on terrace ... In community dominated mostly by Andropogon gerardii and Carex lanuginosa. Soils consist of dark brown, sandy loam over sand. Limestone bedrock occurs several feet below ground surface. Associated with Spiraea alba, Sorghastrum nutans, Eryngium yuccifolium, Galium boreale ssp. septentrionale, Veronicastrum virginicum.
