Habitat: In a rich mesic hardwood forest with a continuous canopy of Acer saccharum & Betula papyrifera with lesser amounts of Betula allegheniensis, Thuja occidentalis, & Picea glauca. Earthworms evident. Associates include Botrychium multifidum, B. virginianum, Aster macrophyllus, Rubus pubescens, & Oryzopsis asperifolia.
