Occasional in tamarack swamp. Patchy to quite open canopy of mature Larix laricina; abundant snags due to tree mortality in past ~10-15 years. Patchy understory of Ulmus americana, Betula papyrifera, and Alnus incana. Partial shade. Firm to buoyant wet peat. Loose clumps. Maroon basal sheaths.
