Collection Profile for: Science Museum of Minnesota Biology Collection (SMM)
The Science Museum of Minnesota Biology Collection contains approximately 170,000 specimens of vascular plants, bryophytes, mollusks, insects, and vertebrates. The SMM collection is global in scope, with strengths in the plants and animals of Minnesota and birds and mammals of Alaska. Within Minnesota, the SMM collections are particularly strong with regard to grouse feather samples from hunter surveys in the mid 20th century, small mammals of Superior National Forest and Voyageurs National Park, plants of Wadena county, and mollusks of the Saint Croix watershed.
