Minnesota Biodiversity Atlas

This collection is a one-time snapshot from 2025 of Minnesota biodiversity specimen records held by out-of-state institutions or agencies. This dataset includes nearly 270,000 records that were repatriated from iDigBio.org. The repatriation was supported by the Minnesota State Legislature through a 2023 Legislative-Citizens Commission on Minnesota Resources' Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund appropriation. Some specimens may be duplicates of those held by in-state institutions and hosted on the Minnesota Biodiversity Atlas. iDigBio unique identifier fields lacking Symbiota equivalents can be found in dynamic properties. More current information about these records may be available from out-of-state institutions or agencies.
